Azure Technical Architect
The Azure Technical Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing scalable, secure, and high-performing cloud-based solutions on the Microsoft Azure platform. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to align cloud strategies with business objectives, with a strong emphasis on Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) and identity services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cloud Architecture Design & Implementation:
Design and implement end-to-end Azure cloud architectures tailored to business needs. Focus on integrating and optimizing Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) and identity management systems.
- Cloud Migration Leadership:
Lead cloud migration initiatives, including assessment, planning, and execution phases. Ensure secure identity transitions using Azure AD, including user identity and access management.
- Architectural Standards & Governance:
Define, enforce, and review architectural standards and best practices for Azure environments. Focus particularly on governance models around Azure Identity, Access Management (IAM), and security compliance.
- Collaboration with Stakeholders:
Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Special focus on secure authentication, authorization, and identity management strategies.
- Security, Compliance & Cost Efficiency:
Ensure security, compliance, and cost-efficiency across Azure environments, with specific emphasis on identity protection, conditional access policies, and adherence to compliance standards (e.g., SOC2, GDPR).
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform, ARM templates, or Bicep to automate and standardize cloud resource provisioning.
- CI/CD Pipeline Implementation:
Implement and maintain continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines using Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions to streamline application deployment and updates.
- Technical Leadership & Mentorship:
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development, operations, and cloud infrastructure teams, particularly in areas of identity and access management, ensuring alignment with Azure best practices.
- Performance Monitoring & Optimization:
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and optimize Azure cloud resources. Special attention to managing Azure AD Connect, identity synchronization, and scaling of cloud-based applications.
- Research & Innovation:
Stay updated with the latest Azure services, tools, and industry trends, particularly those related to identity and access management. Continuously propose improvements based on emerging technologies and cloud best practices.
Required Skills & Qualification:
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Experience:
8+ years of experience in IT, with at least 4-5 years in Azure cloud architecture, designing and implementing complex cloud solutions.
- Certifications:
Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (or equivalent certification) preferred.
- Technical Expertise:
- Azure Active Directory (Azure AD): Deep expertise in Azure AD, including Azure AD B2B/B2C, Conditional Access, Identity Protection, and related IAM services.
- Azure Services: Strong experience with various Azure services including Azure Functions, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), Azure Storage, and more.
- Networking & Security: Profound understanding of networking, security models, and identity management within Azure environments, including Azure Firewall, VPN, VNet peering, and DDoS protection.
- Containerization & Microservices: Hands-on experience with microservices architecture, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and serverless technologies (e.g., Azure Functions).
- Scripting & Automation:
Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell, Bash) and automation frameworks to facilitate cloud infrastructure management and provisioning.
- Compliance & Security Models:
Familiarity with compliance standards such as SOC2, GDPR, ISO 27001, and zero-trust security frameworks.
- Soft Skills:
- Excellent communicationskills with the ability to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solvingskills and the ability to troubleshoot complex cloud environments.
