Network L3 Wireless – SME

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Network Wireless SME (L3) to design, implement, manage, and optimize enterprise wireless network infrastructure. The candidate will serve as the highest point of escalation for wireless-related issues, drive RCA and permanent fixes, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless, secure, and highly available wireless services.

Key Responsibilities

Design & Architecture:

  • Lead the architecture, design, and deployment of enterprise wireless networks (Cisco/Mist/Aruba or equivalent).
  • Define wireless standards, policies, and configuration templates for scalability and security.

Operations & Troubleshooting:

  • Provide L3 support for complex wireless issues including performance, coverage, and interference challenges.
  • Perform detailed root cause analysis (RCA) for recurring incidents and implement permanent solutions.
  • Collaborate with NOC/L2 teams to drive proactive monitoring and reduce MTTR.

Security & Compliance: 

  • Integrate wireless security solutions such as ISE / NAC, 802.1x, WPA3, and Zero-Trust frameworks.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate security standards and industry best practices. 

Performance Optimization: 

  • Conduct wireless surveys, capacity planning, and spectrum analysis to improve user experience.
  • Optimize roaming, channel planning, and power settings for high-density environments. 

Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: 

  • Maintain accurate documentation of network diagrams, configurations, and SOPs.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and operations teams. 

Required Skills & Experience 

Technical Expertise:

  • Deep knowledge of enterprise WLAN technologies (Cisco Catalyst/9800, Meraki, Aruba, Mist).
  • Expertise in 802.11 protocols, RF fundamentals, wireless security, and QoS.
  • Strong hands-on experience with Wireless LAN Controllers (WLCs), Access Points, and associated tools.
  • Experience with ISE / ClearPass / RADIUS / TACACS+ for secure authentication and policy enforcement.
  • Familiarity with SD-WAN, SD-LAN, and integration with wireless networks.

Tools & Monitoring: 

  • Proficiency with tools such as Ekahau, AirMagnet, Wireshark, and vendor-specific monitoring dashboards. 

Problem Solving: 

  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for L3 escalations and incident management. 

Certifications (Preferred): 

  • CCNP Wireless, CWNA, CWSP, or equivalent vendor certifications.
  • ITIL knowledge for change, incident, and problem management processes. 

Soft Skills 

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong ownership mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
