Infrastructure Architect

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly experienced Infrastructure Architect to lead the design, modernization, and governance of enterprise infrastructure across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. This role is responsible for defining scalable, secure, resilient, and high-performing infrastructure solutions that align with business objectives and support long-term technology transformation.

The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in infrastructure architecture, cloud platforms, virtualization, backup and disaster recovery, and operational resilience. The role requires close collaboration with infrastructure, security, operations, and business stakeholders to deliver robust and future-ready IT environments that enable business continuity, compliance, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop enterprise infrastructure architectures across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
Lead infrastructure transformation and modernization initiatives to improve scalability, resilience, security, and cost efficiency.
Define infrastructure standards, reference architectures, governance controls, and best practices.
Architect backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity solutions to meet recovery and resilience requirements.
Design highly available and fault-tolerant solutions across compute, storage, networking, and virtualization platforms.
Drive cloud adoption and hybrid infrastructure strategies using AWS, Azure, and related enterprise platforms.
Partner with security, operations, cloud, and application teams to deliver integrated and secure infrastructure solutions.
Ensure infrastructure designs align with regulatory, security, risk, and compliance requirements.
Review and optimize infrastructure performance, availability, capacity, and operational efficiency.
Provide architectural oversight for infrastructure lifecycle activities including planning, implementation, upgrades, and decommissioning.
Support major incident resolution, root cause analysis, and problem management for critical infrastructure services.
Produce and maintain architecture documents, standards, design artefacts, and operational procedures.
Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to engineering and support teams.
Participate in architecture reviews, audits, and governance forums to ensure solution quality and consistency.

Required Skills & Qualifications

12–15+ years of experience in infrastructure services, enterprise architecture, cloud, and IT transformation.
Proven expertise in infrastructure architecture, backup and disaster recovery, operational resilience, and infrastructure lifecycle management.
Strong hands-on experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, and KVM.
Strong knowledge of cloud platforms including AWS, Microsoft Azure, and hybrid cloud environments.
Experience managing enterprise server environments including physical x86 servers, virtual machines, AIX, iSeries, and AWS EC2.
Working knowledge of database platforms such as Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server.
Expertise in backup and recovery technologies including Veeam, Veritas NetBackup, Backup Exec, Bacula, and AWS native backup solutions.
Strong understanding of ITIL service management, infrastructure operations, security and compliance, and high-availability architecture.
Experience with enterprise and collaboration tools such as ServiceNow, BMC Remedy, JIRA, Confluence, MS Project, and Sparx EA.
Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to create clear technical documentation and engage effectively with both technical and business stakeholders.

Good to Have

Exposure to DevOps practices, infrastructure automation, and Infrastructure as Code.
Understanding of Agile delivery methodologies and cross-functional ways of working.
Experience with infrastructure monitoring, observability, and performance management tools.
Knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks and governance models.
Experience working in large enterprise or global delivery environments.
Awareness of AIOps, automation, and emerging infrastructure technologies.

Preferred Certifications

ITIL 4 Foundation or higher.
AWS Certified Solutions Architect or other relevant AWS certifications.
Microsoft Azure certifications relevant to cloud architecture or administration.
PRINCE2 Practitioner and/or PMP certification.
ISO 20000, ISO 22301, or ISO 27001 certifications.
TOGAF or other enterprise architecture certifications would be advantageous.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering / Information Technology / Computer Science or equivalent experience
