Network/Wireless Engineer – L3

Role Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Network/Wireless Engineer (L3) to join our IT infrastructure team. In this role, you will be responsible for analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving network hardware and software connectivity issues. You will play a critical part in supporting network infrastructure, maintaining wireless technologies, optimizing performance, and providing network security solutions. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with network administrationwireless technologies, and routing/switching protocols.

Certifications:

  • CCNACCNPCCIE(preferred).
  • ITIL V3or ITIL V4 certification (desirable).
  • Experience with SDN(Software-Defined Networking), Wi-Fi 6, and network automation is a plus.

Desired Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with WLCs(e.g., RFS 4000V2110NX96007500/5500 seriesVX9000 series).
  • Experience with WAPs(e.g., AP302WAP360i/eAP460CAP500310 series).
  • Knowledge of Industrial Ethernet platformslike Cisco and Siemens Scalance.
  • Familiarity with network automationand APIs for network management.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Team Collaboration & Leadership:

  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated network solutions.
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior network engineers and assist in the resolution of complex networking issues.

Network Design & Architecture:

  • Assist in assessing and improving the organization’s existing network infrastructure.
  • Design, document, and optimize network architectures to ensure scalability, security, and reliability.
  • Work on network design blueprintsand participate in architecture review boards to provide recommendations on improving the network.

Network Performance & Optimization:

  • Monitor network performance continuously to detect bottlenecks and propose solutions to improve overall network efficiency.
  • Conduct capacity planningto support future network growth and changes in demand.
  • Optimize QoS (Quality of Service)settings and network configurations for high performance and reliability.

Documentation & Reporting:

  • Develop and maintain network design documentsnetwork topology diagrams, and configuration standards.
  • Create comprehensive project plans, timelines, and cost estimates for network implementation.
  • Provide clear, concise reports and technical presentations to stakeholders, ensuring transparency in all network operations and changes.

Main Responsibilities:

Network Troubleshooting & Maintenance:

  • Analyze and resolve network hardwareand software connectivity issues across a wide range of network platforms (LAN, Wireless).
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot Wireless Access Points (WAPs)and Controllers (WLC).
  • Use SolarWindsor other network monitoring tools to perform remote monitoring and management of network infrastructure.
  • Respond to incoming tickets, troubleshoot, and escalate issues when necessary.

Network Performance & Optimization:

  • Conduct network trends analysisfor capacity planning and proactive fault finding to ensure network reliability and performance.
  • Perform performance tuningbandwidth monitoring, and recommend optimizations.
  • Carry out root cause analysisof network syslog entries and documentation for troubleshooting and reporting.

Wireless Network Management:

  • Maintain and support wireless networks, including hands-on management of Extreme Networksand Cisco wireless technologies.
  • Troubleshoot wireless networking issues including 1X authenticationguest wirelessTACACS, and NAC (Network Access Control)solutions.
  • Configure and manage Wireless Controllers (WLCs), including models like RFS 4000V2110NX96007500/5500 series, and VX9000 series.
  • Configure and manage WAPssuch as AP302WAP360i/eAP460CAP500310 series.

Network Administration & Security:

  • Ensure network security by applying best practices in routing, VPN, and other network security protocols.
  • Configure and troubleshoot routing protocolssuch as OSPF and BGP, and manage VPN technologies.
  • Participate in proactive network security checks and ensure the integrity of the network infrastructure.

Collaboration & Documentation:

  • Work closely with TAC(Technical Assistance Center) when required for advanced troubleshooting and support.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for seamless network and wireless management.
  • Maintain and contribute to network documentation, including network topology, configuration standards, and operational procedures.
  • Provide Root Cause Analysis (RCA)for major incidents and problems to prevent recurrence.

Vendor Management:

  • Collaborate with vendors to evaluate, select, and implement network solutions.
  • Manage relationships with third-party providers and ensure compliance with SLAs and contractual agreements.

Training & Knowledge Sharing:

  • Mentor junior network engineers and provide technical guidance on complex network and wireless issues.
  • Participate in architecture review boards and provide expertise on network-related projects.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies, certifications, and industry trends to enhance professional expertise.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degreein Computer ScienceInformation Technology, or a related field.
  • 4+ yearsof hands-on experience in network administration and wireless technologies, with a strong focus on troubleshooting and optimization.
  • Strong knowledgein network administration processes and concepts, with experience in configuring and managing network hardware, wireless solutions, and network security.
  • In-depth experiencewith Cisco networking equipment, Extreme Networks, and other network vendors.
  • Solid understandingof routing and switching protocols (e.g., OSPFBGP), and VPN technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco ISESDWAN, and Cisco DNAC.
  • Experience with network monitoring tools such as SolarWindsLogicMonitorThousandEyes, or Cisco Spaces.
  • Familiarity with Security Technologiesin network management, including 1x flowNAC solutions, and TACACS.
